Blood Drive
All donors get a meal from Beefed-Up Food Truck. There is a great need for blood plasma containing COVID-19 antibodies. If you have had and recovered from COVID-19 and are willing to give plasma, Shepeard will be collecting plasma on-site on October 15. Shepeard will give you a $100 Visa gift card for your time.
If you think you might be eligible to donate plasma, please contact Shepeard at either ccpdonor@shepeardblood.org or 706-737-4551 to set up an appointment.
Our contact with Shepeard has expressed great urgency for blood and plasma, so I hope you will have the time to help.
Georgia Baptists are challenged to provide 25,000 backpacks for children in Appalachia and Georgia this year. Our church has a goal of 75 backpacks that are fully packed. You are challenged to donate one or more packed backpacks. For more information and a packing list click here.
Pastor David will spend the next four months prayer driving our community. His goal is to drive past the house of every resident church member and pray for them specifically. Pastor David would love to know specific prayer needs to pray for and would be willing to pray with anyone who is interested (while social distancing of course). Simply email him or text him your prayer requests and whether you’d like him to stop at your house, or give you a call, to pray with you.
You can email Pastor David at dlambert@fbcthomson.org or text him at 706-699-3927.
The next outing, Pastor David will be prayer driving Wren’s Highway, Hobbs Mill Road, Fort Creek Road to Bowden’s Pond Road, Mattie Harrison Road, and Neals Mill Road.
Watch the Cornerstone and Enewsletter for future areas our pastor will be prayer driving. And let us all “pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people” (Ephesians 6:18).
We are joining with other Georgia Baptist churches to raise the evangelistic temperature of our churches and help our people actively share their faith on a wide-scale basis over the next four weeks. We are going to use this opportunity to recapture the urgency, vision, and burden we had back before COVID as we focused on the Who’s Your One? campaign.
We believe that COVID does not put the Gospel in lockdown and we must never distance ourselves from the lost around us. Sure, we need to practice social distancing, but we must not “spiritually distance” ourselves from the Great Commission and those who need the Gospel!
In worship this Sunday, I will introduce the Impact Your One “refresher” campaign. Each week, we’ll spend a few minutes in Sunday School and in worship to focus on Identifying those we need to share Jesus with, Mobilizing ourselves to have Gospel Conversations with them and Praying for them to be open to the Gospel, Activating our church to intentionally invite people to worship on October 25 and to bring their kids to Trunk or Treat on October 31, and then we will Celebrate and Thank God for what He has done with a Baptism Sunday on November 1.
Go ahead and begin identifying those God would have you intentionally pray for, invite, and share the Good News of Jesus within the weeks to come. Let’s impact our “ones”!
Vote for our hay bale!
Voting ends on October 23!
The youth and Ben did a great job creating "Baby Yoda" and Mando from the Stars Wars show, The Mandalorian!

Trunk or Treat
This year, Halloween is on a Saturday and based on the state of the world, we aren’t sure how much trick-or-treating there will (or should) be. As a result, we think that our Trunk or Treat will be important.
Here’s our tentative plan. Our goals: to minimize personal contact, to keep people moving, and to maximize space between people. We think that means we have to sacrifice some elements:
No concessions | No bounce house | No face painting
No registration | Fewer cars (maybe 15?) | No hayride
Wear gloves/masks and give candy directly out of factory bags
Guide walking traffic with barricade tape
We also think we should increase the time: 3:00 PM-6:00 PM
Our creativity in sharing the gospel will be put to the test more than ever during this event. We need your help to make it a successful event by donating a trunk, candy, and most of all we need your prayers. Let the church office know if you’re comfortable enough to participate or sign up on the connection card on Sunday!
At the Sunday, October 18 Quarterly Church Conference we will vote concerning our deacon nomination and selection process for the 2021-2023 deacon body. We will also be voting on the 2021 committees and a new church treasurer. Make plans to be there.
It is that time of year again! FBC publishes a wonderful Advent Devotional book each year and our readers love it and look forward to getting it...BUT it takes a lot of work ahead of time to get it together. If you would be willing to contribute a devotional this year, please get in touch with Summer McDonald at smcdonald@fbcthomson.org ASAP. The topics are Hope, Peace, Joy and Love. Do not worry if you are not a professional writer - we just want to read your heart this Advent Season!
While we are in uncertain financial times, it is as important as ever for us to trust in God’s providential care and to give so that the Kingdom’s work can continue. We are still doing ministry, supporting missions, helping with disaster relief, and we still have bills and staff to pay. We encourage you to mail or drop by the church office your tithe and gifts. We also have online giving available on our website and via the Realm Connect app.
As Pastor David concludes our study of Psalm 23, we’ll discover how we can rejoice with a worshipful heart at the goodness, love, and mercy of our Good Shepherd! Join us for a Sunday of celebratory worship and praise! Join us in person, listen on WTHO 101.7 FM, or watch our live-stream online.
