Georgia Baptists are challenged to provide 25,000 backpacks for children in Appalachia and Georgia this year. Our church has a goal of 75 backpacks that are fully packed. You are challenged to donate one or more packed backpacks. For more information and a packing list click here. Collection Sunday will be October 18! Don't forget to bring your backpacks on Sunday!

At the Sunday, October 18, Quarterly Church Conference we will vote concerning our deacon nomination and selection process for the 2021-2023 deacon body. We will also be voting on the 2021 committees and a new church treasurer. Make plans to be there.

Pastor David will spend the next three months of prayer driving our community. His goal is to drive past the house of every resident church member and pray for them specifically. Pastor David would love to know specific prayer needs to pray for and would be willing to pray with anyone who is interested (while social distancing of course). Simply email him or text him your prayer requests and whether you’d like him to stop at your house, or give you a call, to pray with you.

You can email Pastor David at dlambert@fbcthomson.org or text him at 706-699-3927.

On the next outing, Pastor David will be prayer driving Dearing and Harlem (north and south of 278). Watch the Cornerstone and Enewsletter for future areas our pastor will be prayer driving. And let us all “pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people” (Ephesians 6:18).

Pray and Mobilize

This Sunday we will continue our Impact your ONE emphasis. We will have a specific time of prayer for the lost in our community. We will also have tools available to help mobilize our congregation to share the gospel! Remember to be in prayer for the people you listed on your identification sheet and pray for opportunities to share the gospel!

Vote for our hay bale!

Voting ends on October 23!

The youth and Ben did a great job creating "Baby Yoda" and Mando from the Stars Wars show, The Mandalorian!

Trunk or Treat

This year, Halloween is on a Saturday and based on the state of the world, we aren’t sure how much trick-or-treating there will (or should) be. As a result, we think that our Trunk or Treat will be important.

Here’s our tentative plan. Our goals: to minimize personal contact, to keep people moving, and to maximize space between people. We think that means we have to sacrifice some elements:

  • No concessions | No bounce house | No face painting

  • No registration | Fewer cars (maybe 15?) | No hayride

  • Wear gloves/masks and give candy directly out of factory bags

  • Guide walking traffic with barricade tape

  • We also think we should increase the time: 3:00 PM-6:00 PM

Our creativity in sharing the gospel will be put to the test more than ever during this event. We need your help to make it a successful event by donating a trunk, candy, and most of all we need your prayers. Let the church office know if you’re comfortable enough to participate or sign up on the connection card on Sunday!

While we are in uncertain financial times, it is as important as ever for us to trust in God’s providential care and to give so that the Kingdom’s work can continue. We are still doing ministry, supporting missions, helping with disaster relief, and we still have bills and staff to pay. We encourage you to mail or drop by the church office your tithe and gifts. We also have online giving available on our website and via the Realm Connect app.

Pastor David will bring a message, He Prepares a Table Before Me, as we observe the Lord's Supper. A benevolent offering will be received. Join us in person, listen on WTHO 101.7 FM, or watch our live-stream online.
